Grey Peshawari Chappals: How to Choose and Wear Them

Grey is the quiet colour on a chappal rack. It doesn't shout like a glossy black pair, and it doesn't feel as casual as tan. It sits comfortably in the middle, and that is exactly why it goes with so much of what men in Pakistan actually wear. If you have been eyeing a grey Peshawari chappal but aren't sure it suits you, this guide walks you through it in plain words.

Why pick a grey Peshawari chappal?

Most men already own a black pair and a brown pair. A grey pair fills the gap between them. Like black, it looks clean with white, off white and light blue shalwar kameez, but it feels softer and more relaxed. With darker kurtas in charcoal, navy, olive or maroon, grey gives a calm contrast without making your feet look heavy.

It is also a practical colour. Everyday dust shows less on grey than on black suede, and it doesn't mark as easily as a pale beige pair. If you want one pair that works for the office, Jummah and a dinner out, grey is a sensible choice.

Our grey pair: Graphite Grace

Graphite Grace grey suede Kaptaan sole Peshawari chappal, handmade in KP by Baaz Leathers

Graphite Grace is our grey Peshawari chappal. Here is what goes into it:

  • Upper: premium cowhide suede in a rich grey tone
  • Sole: a rigid tyre and cork sole, the thick, chunky kind that gives the chappal a strong, confident stance
  • Insole: a dotted memory foam insole for cushioning with every step
  • Making: handcrafted and hand stitched by Peshawari craftsmen

Regular sizes run from 40 to 46, and the price is Rs 7,550. You will find it in our chunky sole chappals, alongside the rest of our suede Peshawari chappals, and in our premium range.

Grey means suede

A good grey chappal is almost always suede. Suede has a soft, brushed surface with a matte look, so the grey reads warm and textured instead of flat. If you are still weighing up the two materials, Leather or Suede? How to Choose Your Peshawari Chappal covers the differences. The short version: suede looks richer and feels softer, while polished leather is easier to wipe clean.

What to wear with a grey chappal

  • White or off white shalwar kameez: the easiest match. Fresh and clean, good for Jummah and daytime events.
  • Black or charcoal kurta: grey lifts an all dark outfit so it doesn't look heavy at the bottom.
  • Navy, maroon, bottle green or olive: deep colours look sharp against grey suede.
  • Waistcoat: a black, navy or grey waistcoat over a light kameez ties the whole look together.
  • Jeans or chinos: grey suede with dark jeans and a plain shirt is an easy weekend look.

One small tip: avoid matching the exact same grey from head to toe. A little contrast between your clothes and your chappal looks more put together.

About the chunky sole

Graphite Grace sits on a thick tyre and cork sole. It gives the pair some height and a bold, solid look, and it is built to handle rough roads and long days. Some men love that firm, grounded feel. Others want a pair they barely notice on their feet. If you are in the second group, have a look at our lightweight Peshawari chappals on EVA foam soles.

Not sure grey is you? Two close cousins

Harbour Dune is a navy cowhide suede pair on a medium sole. Navy is another calm, cool colour, and it looks lovely with white and grey clothes. If you want the classic option, Baaz Signature Black is black cowhide suede on a light EVA foam sole. Our black Peshawari chappal guide covers the black pairs in more detail.

Bigger feet? Graphite Grace in sizes 46 to 50

Graphite Grace also comes as a Big and Tall version in sizes 46 to 50, made to order, at Rs 9,450. It is the same grey suede and the same chunky sole, just made bigger. You can see every large size pair in our Big and Tall collection, and our article on finding Peshawari chappals in size 47 to 50 explains how it works.

Keeping grey suede looking good

Suede is easy to look after if you keep it dry and give it a quick brush. After wearing, use a soft suede brush or a dry cloth to lift the dust, brushing in one direction. If your pair gets wet, let it dry naturally away from direct heat, then brush the surface back up once it is dry. Store it somewhere cool and dry, not in a plastic bag.
